Chronic pain remedies vary like their causes. Many methods exist, from over-the-counter and prescription medications to mind/body practices to acupuncture. No single treatment for persistent pain ensures complete relief. Combining treatments may help.
Drug Therapy: Tylenol (acetaminophen) and NSAIDs like aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen can treat mild discomfort. Acetaminophen and NSAIDs ease muscle pain and stiffness and reduce inflammation. Topical pain medications like creams, lotions, and sprays can alleviate muscle and arthritis pain and inflammation.
Trigger Point Injections: This injection treats painful trigger points, or muscle knots that occur when muscles don't relax. Trigger point injections alleviate arm, leg, lower back, and neck muscle discomfort. This method has also been used to treat fibromyalgia, tension headaches, and myofascial pain syndrome, which does not respond to other treatments.
Surgical Implants: When medications and physical therapy fail to relieve pain, a surgical implant may assist.
Spinal cord stimulators: Pain signals are blocked from reaching the brain by low-level electrical signals sent to the spinal cord or nerves using spinal cord stimulators. This is used for back and limb discomfort.
TENS: TENS reduces pain by electrical stimulation. Electrodes put on the skin near the pain source deliver low-voltage electrical current during the treatment.
Bioelectric Therapy: Bioelectric therapy blocks brain pain transmissions to ease pain. Bioelectric therapy also releases endorphins, which block pain signals to the brain and reduce or eliminate pain.
Physical Therapy: Physical therapy, along with TMS Therapy in Dallas, relieves pain by improving movement and function after an injury or handicap.Copyright © 2022 Design & Developed by Premier Pain Centers
